The Sherman Oaks Business Improvement District is seeking a friendly, outgoing part-time urban studies and planning students with an interest in social media, non-profits and public relations to assist with several community projects. Working with a team of one or two others you will create 1-2 social media posts and/or videos a week for our local constituency of over 200 business owners. The role will also include, but not be limited to creating the content, building a social media following, brainstorming ideas, and monitoring our social networks. Interpersonal and organizational skills are very important as you will liaise with a diverse group of commercial property and business owners to build rapport, gather information, build a database, and follow up as needed.
Attend (via Zoom) and take comprehensive notes of meetings for LA City Planning Review Board, Council District 4, Sherman Oaks Homeowners Assn and Neighborhood Council and more.
While most of the work will be done remotely, some field work may be necessary.
Interns will report to one of the VSOBID board members and/or the executive director.
Compensation may include: College/work credits, community service hours, valuable experience, make local business contacts and a letter of recommendation.
The Village at Sherman Oaks Business Improvement District is managed by a non-profit corporation to provide services within the VSOBID zones, above and beyond what the city alone can deliver. These services help make the district a cleaner, safer and more beautiful destination for the community.
Requirements and Qualifications:
o Must be 18 years of age and enrolled in an accredited college program.
o Knowledge of all social median platforms, Excel and Canva a plus.
o Self-directed, dependable and eager to learn.
o Excellent computer and communication skills.
o Flexible work hours; part-time schedule to be determined.
