THE AGENCY
The OC Health Care Agency (HCA) is a dynamic organization dedicated to creating and supporting an environment that promotes the achievement of optimal individual, family, and community health. Under the leadership of the Agency Director, a dynamic executive team with an organizational structure comprised of five (5) service areas – Administrative Services, Behavioral Health Services, Correctional Health Services, Public Health Services, and Specialized Medical Services – the HCA is committed to meeting the health needs of the diverse Orange County community.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The HCA Communications Team, which provides both internal and external marketing and communications support to the Agency, is offering an internship related to communications and social media. Students or recent graduates selected for the position will perform a range of duties from very basic activities to those requiring higher skill levels.
Duties may include:
- Drafting and scheduling written content for the HCA’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter/X platforms
- Editing and drafting content for the HCA’s monthly newsletter and websites
- Formatting and proofreading a variety of documents
- Carrying out other writing assignments and duties as needed
- Students will be able to perform these duties in a remote/virtual setting
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be current students enrolled in an accredited college/university majoring in public relations, political science, marketing, communications, journalism or related fields; or be a recent (6 months) graduate who completed their degree in one of the above fields.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of Associated Press writing style
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
- Thorough knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter/X
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Detail oriented and reliable
TIME COMMITMENT
The HCA Communications team is seeking an intern with a minimum commitment of four months. Students can expect to intern between 15 hours per week during this timeframe.
