The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is currently hiring for an Associate Accounting Analyst position within our Financial Management Branch (FMB). In this role, you will serve as a Fund Reconciliation Specialist.
FMB is responsible for the preparation, analysis, and management of the Department’s budget; maintenance of accounting records and financial data; and acting as the liaison with the Department of Finance (DOF), Legislative Analyst’s Office, Legislative Budget staff, and the Federal government on budget and fiscal matters affecting the Department.
We are looking for someone that has extensive knowledge of, or experience with, accounting/financial systems; outstanding analytical skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and exceptional customer service skills.

Position overview:
- The selected candidate will coordinate and prepare monthly appropriation reconciliations of various Governmental and Non-Governmental Funds for expenditures, revenue, and reverted appropriations between the Department and the State Controller’s Office’s (SCO) records
- The selected candidate will also be responsible for the review and analysis of reconciling items to determine the proper accounting action for adjustments and corrections, as well as posting all General Ledger entries for each of the assigned funds and preparing the annual Year-End financial statements and Fund Balance Reports for their assigned funds
- This position is in our Sacramento, CA office across the street from the beautiful State Capitol Park and Rose Garden
- Hybrid telework is available for this position, in accordance with CDPH’s Telework Policy and Procedures
