PROGRAM Summary: The Accounting intern will assist the Accounting team of this publicly traded homebuilding Company with assigned special projects and will learn about the innerworkings of how the Accounting and Finance functions support the Company’s operations, impact the larger business strategy, and achieve compliance with various external reporting requirements. The intern will take their academic experience and put it into practice in a Corporate Accounting setting.
Essential duties and Responsibilities:
Corporate Accounting
- Learn about the Corporate Accounting department’s role in supporting KB Home’s operating divisions and financial goals, as well as preparing quarterly and annual reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
- Collaborate with Accounting leadership when reviewing Company standards, procedures, and policies.
- Review and learn about SOX 404 compliance and testing.
- Test academic Accounting theory in practice.
- Assigned research and collaboration with other Corporate departments, as needed.
National Accounting and Purchasing Administration
- Learn about how the National Accounting and Purchasing Administration supports the Corporate Accounting function and the Company’s operating divisions.
- Collaborate with an Accounting team and Accounts Payable to better understand the practical application of Accounting in a Corporate setting.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
- High school degree or equivalent required
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program for a degree in Accounting; Ideally, the candidate has either completed their junior year and going into senior year or is in a Master’s in Accounting or MBA with emphasis in Accounting program.
Experience
- Generally, the more previous experience with on-the-job Accounting that the candidate has, the more advanced and complex Accounting work they will be presented with during the internship

Work Requirements
- The internship will be held during the summer, but the Company has flexibility with the start and end date depending on the candidate’s school term schedule. Work hours are to be discussed with the candidate and determined by the hiring manager.
- The candidate should be able to commit to 8-hour workdays with flexibility to work overtime when needed due to special projects or events.
- The internship will be on-site at the Corporate Westwood office, or alternatively could be onsite in Phoenix, AZ where the National Accounting and Purchasing Administration is located but has the flexibility to be a hybrid role depending on determined working hours.
- Conduct business in a professional and ethical manner to potential buyers, trade partners, and coworkers to reinforce goodwill and profitability for the Company.
- Actual pay within the range is determined by factors such as prior experience and location.
