This position is responsible for leading and managing the interconnected activities of the LabDiet® Business in an assigned area in the US. Objectives will be established to meet various business and financial goals. The position includes a wide scope of activities but not limited to: Customer visits, working extensively with manufacturing and formulation, managing distributors, solving problems, creating and performing customer presentations – all in the effort to protect current business and prospect new business by accurately and professionally detailing the company and product line features and benefits.
This role will focus on the geography from Texas to California and up to Washington. The ideal candidate will be located West of the Mississippi River.
This is a remote based position. Expect travel of 50% – 60%.
Responsibilities:
- Profitably increases LabDiet® product sales; sustain and grow market share and positively represent the brand by being fully engaged with the interconnected activities of the business.
- On a daily basis, detail product line features and benefits to individuals as well as small and large groups.
- Protect and grow the sales of LabDiet® products to customers utilizing Business Group Marketing direction, sales history, trends and projections, market intel, technical support, customer profiles, marketing plans including attending regional meetings and using other promotional methods.
- Fully embrace the manufacturing process with the ability to accurately provide explicit detail to all levels in the customer base either via direct communication or group presentations at individual facilities or industry conferences.
- Gain full knowledge of the products, ingredients used, formulation process and industry information regarding laboratory animal nutrition.
- Respond to customer inquiries and problems, questions and concerns in a timely, appropriate and positive manner.
- Creatively managing the business out of home office
- Utilize non-travel time at home to facilitate communications with customers, distributors, manufacturing staff.
- Schedule appointments, follow through with post travel requirements, evaluate and create reports.
- Attend strategic trade shows.
- Maintain competitor and industry knowledge.
- Conducts competitor analysis – ongoing process.
- Attends trade shows/conventions as assigned
Requirements:
- Masters level degree in Animal Science related field (e.g., Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Agricultural Engineering, Wildlife Sciences, Business Management)
- Proficient in public speaking and presentations to a wide range of audiences and groups.
- Proficient in English speaking and writing.
Desired Requirements:
- Ph.D. in one of the above specialty areas. Ability to communicate in Spanish.
- 5 Years of experience in Business Management, Technical or Science related area
- Management in Animal Nutrition, Biomedical Research or related science
- Strong computer skills
This is a sales role that is compensated with a target mix of base salary plus commission. Base salary is dependent upon experience/tenure and generally ranges between $90,000 – $133,000 depending on experience. Commission is driven by individual performance.
