Led by board-certified Cardiac Electrophysiologist Dr. Rodney N. Ranaei, Orange County Cardiac Rhythm Institute (OCCRI) offers comprehensive and compassionate care for patients with abnormal heart rhythms (cardiac arrhythmias), cardiovascular diseases and related conditions. We are currently seeking highly motivated and compassionate individuals to join us as a part of our Medical Assistants (MA) team.
Role Summary
This position offers a unique opportunity to gain learning experience and engage in a variety of responsibilities, both administrative and clinical, that contribute to our success in the care and well-being of our patients. As an MA, you will be responsible for providing customer-facing support, coordinating patient care, scheduling appointments, and assisting the physician with clinical tasks. We provide paid, on-the-job training, and do not require prior healthcare experience or certification as a MA.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and welcoming manner.
- Handle checking patients in and out, completing paperwork and providing support as needed.
- Answer all phone calls, handle inquiries and relay messages accordingly.
- Schedule appointments, procedures, and follow-up visits.
- Verify insurance coverage, request prior authorizations, and collect payments.
- Organize and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records in accordance with established protocols and regulations.
- Maintain and clean patient rooms for routine appointments.
- Record pertinent health information, collect vital signs and conduct EKGs.
- Assist with cardiac device interrogations.
- Prepare operating room and patients for procedures, assisting physician and surgical team as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Can commit to the position for at least 1 year (ideally 2+).
- Has exceptional customer service, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks and responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- Basic computer knowledge with proficient typing speed and accuracy.
- Values patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- We do not require formal MA training or certification, prior experience working with patients or in a healthcare setting.
