Public Notice – Walla Walla District will be attending multiple career fairs in April and May 2024
WHO: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Walla Walla District representatives will participate in multiple Career Fairs during the months of April and May and will be recruiting for alumni or graduates that will earn their degree by August 2024.
WHAT: 2024 Spring Career Fairs (You do not have to attend the career fairs to apply and be considered.)
April 17th: Walla Walla University Spring Career Meet & Greet in College Place, WA
April 23rd: Columbia Basin College, WSU, and WorkSource Career & Internship in Pasco, WA
May 2nd: Waitsburg College and Career Fair in Waitsburg, WA
May 8th: Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Virtual Career Fair for Professionals
WHY: Walla Walla District will be recruiting for alumni and recent graduates using direct hire authority for multiple disciplines at the GS-07 level. Depending on position/location selected, promotion potential will be at the GS-11 or GS-12 levels. We encourage alumni or students graduating by August 2024 to visit us at the Career Fairs.
PAY RANGE:
At the GS-07 entry level your pay range could be between $49,052 and $63,733 (plus applicable special salary rate, depending on grade and position). Pay will be based on such factors as your qualifications, education, experience, training, and availability of funds.

DUTIES: Duties will vary depending on your chosen career path but will include 2 years of on‑the‑job and formal training to provide knowledge, skills, and abilities to fully perform the career-specific duties.
EVALUATIONS: Candidates will be evaluated in accordance with the qualification and eligibility requirements set forth by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) located at https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=Group-Standards.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 are required to register for Selective Service prior to appointment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Background Check.
- A one-year probationary period may be required in accordance with agency policy.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver’s License to operate vehicles from one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- Current transcript (official or unofficial) must be submitted as part of application package. Official transcripts with the date your degree was conferred and a GPA of 2.95 or higher will be required if selected and before official job offer can be made.
- Some positions may require temporary duty travel.
- Recent Graduates must sign a Mobility Agreement with the Agency.
- Recent Graduates will be appointed to a permanent, career or career-conditional appointment in the competitive service.
- Non-competitive promotion potential to the target grade is based on time‑in‑grade requirements, completing training requirements, and demonstrated ability to perform the higher graded duties.
- Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and subject to available budget if the selecting official determines the relocation is in the best interests of the government.
- Hiring incentives such as a recruitment/relocation bonus, service credit for leave, and student loan repayment may be authorized (subject to available budget) if the selecting official determines the incentive is in the best interest of the government.
